Sandy is a city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, and named after the nearby Sandy River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,385, however the 2006 estimate shows 7,070 people. The city serves as the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.8 km²), none of which is covered with water. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,385 people, 1,956 households, and 1,431 families residing in the city.
