Paynes Creek is an unincorporated town in Tehama County, California, east of Red Bluff with a population of about 450. Its ZIP code is 96075 and telephone prefixes follow (530-597-xxxx), which is shared with the town of Dales, California, about to the west. The town is named for the eponymous watercourse ''Payne's Creek''. In the state legislature Paynes Creek is located in the 4th Senate District, represented by Republican Sam Aanestad, and in the 2nd Assembly District, represented by Republican Doug LaMalfa. Federally, Paynes Creek is located in California's 2nd congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +13 and is represented by Republican Wally Herger.
