Shreveport es la tercera ciudad más grande y la ciudad principal de la tercera área metropolitana más grande en el estado de Louisiana, EE.UU., además de ser la ciudad más grande de 99o en los Estados Unidos. Es la sede de Caddo y se extiende poco a la vecina Bossier Parish. Bossier City está separada de Shreveport por el río Rojo. La población era de 200.145 en el censo de 2000, y el de Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitana de población de la zona supera los 375.000. Shreveport fue fundada en 1836 por la Compañía Shreve Town, una entidad creada para desarrollar una ciudad en la confluencia de la recién navegable del río Rojo y el Camino de Texas, una ruta por tierra hacia la nueva República independiente de Texas y, antes de ese momento, en México.
