Shreveport ist die drittgrößte Stadt und die Hauptstadt der drittgrößte Ballungsraum in den US-Bundesstaat Louisiana, sowie als der 99.-größte Stadt in den Vereinigten Staaten. Es ist der Sitz des Caddo Parish und erstreckt sich leicht in die benachbarten Bossier Parish. Bossier City aus Shreveport vom Red River getrennt. Die Bevölkerung war 200.145 bei der Volkszählung 2000 und die Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan Area Bevölkerung übersteigt 375.000. Shreveport wurde 1836 von der Shreve Town Company, ein Unternehmen gegründet, um eine Stadt an der Kreuzung der neu schiffbaren Red River und der Texas Trail, einem Landweg in die neuen unabhängigen Republik Texas zu entwickeln und vor dieser Zeit in Gründung Mexico.
