Tallahassee is the capital of the State of Florida, USA, the county seat of Leon County , and the 133rd biggest city in the USA. Tallahassee became the capital of Florida in 1824. In 2008, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau was 177,852 , while the 2008 Tallahassee metropolitan area is estimated at 357,259. Tallahassee is the home of Florida State University, Florida A&M University,Keiser University - Tallahassee,Tallahassee Community College and branches of Barry University, and Flagler College. The Florida State University - Florida A&M University College of Engineering is a joint project of the two institutions from which its name is derived. One technical school is located in Tallahassee: Lively Technical Center.
